      Barton’s latest novel features the return of Richard Janus, the popular hero of Barton’s first novel, The El Cholo Feeling Passes. And the 30-year wait was well worth it. Readers don’t have to read (or reread) El Cholo to appreciate Flagship. All they really need to know is that Janus never finished his PhD dissertation on King Philip’s War, so the legendary Metacom (aka King Philip) decides to write it for him.
