We read this aloud to our children and I was impressed with how true it remained to the original. There were a few facets and characters which were left out (as would be expected by a 100 page large type adaptation), but the cadence and feeling of the words remained intact. This is a great introduction to Dicken's Great Expectations, but by no means a substitute for the classic.

This was a terrible abridged/simplified version, but at least I now know the main story and characters.

I enjoyed reading this with two of my younger boys. They were really touched and we had some great discussions. Joe was my favorite character.

this was a great book cause it was alittle scary when a boy goes into the woods and gets lost
