      The content of the letters has been reduced to a fifth of the available letters for these years. This sufferable reduction creates a narrative chosen by the editors while readers wonder what is left. If the intention of this volume is to please the reader with a narrative, then some accomplishment has been done. If the intention is to facilitate the research for Beckett’s scholars, then this volume falls short for not providing adequately that tool for scholars who most likely will buy this ed [...]
