**4.5 stars***This book was a really neat twist on the concept of a romance novel, because it brought in a supernatural element that made the story around the steaminess really captivating. It felt like X-Men turned into an NC-17 movie, Addison has hidden her Condition her entire life. Born into an incredibly wealthy and powerful family, she knows her life depends on no one finding out what she is. Her father taught her how to keep it under control so that no one would find out she was one of "t [...]

This was an excellent book! I'm not really a big fan of sci-fy or dystopian books but this one was written so well and in a way where it didn't really feel like either of those things. This book takes place in a future where having special abilities labels you as Conditioned and forces you to be institutionalized. The Conditioned aren't given any rights and are treated like dangerous criminals not suited to mix with normal society. But when the grandchild of one of the richest and most influenti [...]

In Eye Contact, Rebecca Royce takes us on a thrilling ride filled in equal parts with heart-pounding intrigue and the softness of a growing, Cinderella-style love. Here, in Royce’s rendition of Earth, those whose genetics grant them extrasensory powers are termed “Conditioned” and confined to compounds, and are only allowed outside to help those who can pay for their special abilities. Enter heiress Addison Wade, a young woman who defies her family to seek the special assistance of the Con [...]

Eye Contact was gripping and totally addictive. I loved the chemistry between Addison and Spencer is awesome. I loved them! This book reminds me of X-men, which I also loved. My favorite part is learning about all the different "conditions" or powers that the various people have. The more unique, the better! People with powers are called the conditioned in Eye Contact and they are treated like a mixture of slaves and lepers. It's awful! But the ending really sets up the plot for the next book. A [...]

Eye Contact was an awesome novel. I really enjoyed this book because it was a very creative and new twist on a supernatural romance story. The characters were fantastic and written with great detail. It was a very original story that has a lot of emotional twists and turns. I highly recommend this book as well as all of Rebecca Royce's books. I can't wait to read more! Addison Wade has hidden her "Condition" from the world and people like her grandfather all her life. She has learned to keep her [...]

I was asked to review this book for Rebecca and I was glad too. I didn't know what the book was going to be about, I didn't read any blurbs or reviews so all I can say is what I think. This book is about a world where some humans have certain powers or abilities that can be mental or physical. The people (conditioned) are kept locked in different institutions away from the normal humans. The main characters are both conditioned. He grew up in one of the institutions and she managed to keep her a [...]

Since others have provided a lot of detail about the story I will forego doing so. Overall I really liked this book, although it initially started out very slowly. The story line is intriguing and original. Character development is quite good and the interactions between characters interesting. Ms. Royce did a goo job of believable world building, but some of the details tended to slow the story down and took the focus off of the two principle characters. In this world nothing is as it seems and [...]

Going into this book, all I knew was that it was a paranormal romance and not much else. So as I got into it, I was surprised how good it was! It's not the cliche paranormal with vampires and werewolves, but one where people have special powers and are hated by society. It reminded me so much of x-men, but with more romance and less fighting (which is awesome because I love x-men and romance). The thing I loved most about this book, though, was Spencer. He was viewed as "the bad boy" on the outs [...]

I really enjoyed Eye Contact. Ms. Royce has created an interesting world where people who are born with special abilities are called Conditioned. It reminded me of the X-Men, except the Conditioned have been kept away from society. They aren't even thought of as human. They have no rights at all. Spencer Lewis is one of the special Conditioned who is let out occasionally to use his special ability to find lost people. Addison Wade hires him to find her kidnapped nephew.I expected a paranormal ro [...]

Addison Wade was born into a rich, influential family and one day she will take her grandfather's place in running the family company and take his seat on a committee that keeps the 'Conditioned' locked away from society. Spencer Lewis is one of the 'Conditioned' who has the ability to travel into dark spaces in his mind to locate missing people. His abilities though are less threatening than many of the people locked away with him in the institution. When Addison's nephew goes missing, she is fo [...]

If you’ve read her The Outsiders series, that I absolutely love, The Conditioned has some similarities as they’re both paranormal series, but the fantasy element is just as strong. The Outsiders are unknown to the world, even though they’re the only thing that can stop the Earth from being destroyed by a demon. Now The Conditioned just want to fight for their rights as people since they’re considered freaks and dangerous by the population and sent to a compound made by the government and [...]

Spencer has accepted that he is Conditioned and he will forever be treated differently than normal people. He has wants for simple things that most people take for granted, but he knows that he can never have them so why bother tempting himself with them? Temptation comes in the form of Addison Wade who has a few secrets of her own and needs to find her nephew and she'll do anything to find him. Including hiring Spencer who is the best at locating people. Together they discover more than just si [...]

New series for Rebecca Royce! This is the first in The Conditioned Series. Addison Wade grand-daughter of third most influential men in America was hidden by the outside world by her dad. She had The Condition meaning she was born with an ability. Her grandfather created a safe haven for these people but in reality it's to keep the population safe from them. They are considered offensive, repulsive, bottom of the barrel scum. So he gathered them up and put them in Safe Dawn. All owned and operat [...]

This book is amazing. The world that was created, the character development, the chemistry, the plot, and the sheer talent of the author all combine to take you on a roller coaster ride that will keep the pages turning well into the night. I am absolutely hooked on this series and cannot wait to read more. I became so invested in some of the characters that it's remarkably hard to wait until I've finished my review before I go see what other books in the series are available and which of the cha [...]

Rebecca Royce is excellent at hitting all of the senses with her descriptions of the environment and characters. The scenes really come alive and it's easy to visualize what's going on as the story progresses. The world building is excellent, with just enough information provided to get a good sense of the history without feeling like a lesson. The sexual tension between the characters develops quickly, as is the case with most romances, and the tension between the main characters steams off the [...]

Loved this book. It was so much more than just a romance. It also dealt with powerful, corrupt organizations; discrimination; and people's knee-jerk reaction to the unknown. I found the characters had real depth and their reactions organic. And I loved the writing. Not that that was a surprise to me, I've found the same stellar caliber of writing in the other works I've read by Ms. Royce. I will be getting the next book in this series :)

    • Liia White says:

Brilliant. That is the only word to describe this book. Rebecca Royce has created the most intriguing world in this book, it draws you in and you start to believe it's real. She has once again proved she is outstanding when it comes to world-building. Mix that talent with strong characters, a sexy hero and heroine, you've got everything you could possibly want in a book. It was sweet, sexy, heart wrenching, enraging and action-packed. I can't wait for more in this series!

I found this book purely by chance and so glad I did. After reading the synopsis, I downloaded the sample chapters and starting reading, after a reading the sample, I quickly purchased it! I’ve read some of the others reviews comparing it to X-Men, I can see some similarities. I love the X-Men, so this was a plus to me. I look forward to reading the next book.

    • Blackravens Reviews says:

A Recommended Read. Ms. Royce excels at bringing her characters to life, even the secondary characters…which I have to assume will each have their own story at some point…are brilliantly executed. You really feel as if you’ve moved into the world of The Conditioned right from the start. To read the rest of this review, please visit blackravensreviews/?p=

This story is just a constant movement and full of emotion!!!Loved this book and it's underlying meaning! Why do people automatically fear what they don't know or understand??? How can it be acceptable to banish or shun someone for being different??? Addison gives me hope that one day things will progress but until then be who you are and love yourself!

3.5 stars! It was really interesting and I love the concept of the book. I love the main characters and there was quite a bit of action but I wish there was more between the main characters. I can't wait to continue the series though.

Personally, I loved this book. Yes it is different from most of the books I have read. I loved the chemistry between Spencer and Addison but I did hope that Roman and Spencer would kinds start behaving like brothers by the end of the book, but their is always the next book to look forward too. :)
